“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead

Last month, members of the Bristol Charities team attended the Anti Banquet — an innovative fundraising dinner where business leaders serve food alongside top chefs to raise funds for Bristol’s food charities—raising essential funds to address food insecurity across Bristol.

The event united organisations, funders, and individuals to tackle one of our city’s most urgent issues: the impossible choice between heating and eating.

The Anti Banquet was not only a fundraiser, but a rallying cry – a celebration of the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector’s tireless work to support those most affected by poverty and inequality. It showcased the power of collaboration, and the deep commitment that exists across Bristol to driving systemic change.

At Bristol Charities, we are proud to be part of this collective effort. With a long-standing history of providing affordable housing, grassroots community services, and strategic advocacy, our mission is to support people to thrive, not just survive. Events like the Anti Banquet reinforce why our work matters and how interconnected we all are in the fight for a fairer, more resilient city.

As we continue to expand our work, we are more determined than ever to shine a light on these issues, advocate for long-term solutions, and strengthen the partnerships that make progress possible.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the organisers of the Anti Banquet for creating such a meaningful and galvanising space. It was a privilege to stand alongside so many dedicated organisations and individuals, united by a shared belief that no one in our city should go hungry.

Together, we can make Bristol a city where everyone has the chance to thrive.
Whether you donate, volunteer, or partner with us — your support helps power lasting change and brings us closer to ending poverty in our communities.
