John Fosters Almshouse

The original John Fosters Almshouse was founded between 1481 and 1483 on Steep Street (now Colston Street) and was originally a hospital for the sick and deprived. It was sold in 2006 and the proceeds used to build the new John Fosters Almshouse in Henbury.

Barstaple Almshouse

Barstaple almshouse was known as Trinity hospital South and was situated at the corner of Old Market Street and Midland Road. It had been in the ownership of Bristol Charities since 1863. The property was sold in 2010 and the proceeds were used to build a new Barstaple Almshouse in Brentry.

The grade II listed building situated on Hotwells Road was sold by the Lady Haberfield Almshouse Charity in 2013. The proceeds of this sale were used to develop a new almshouse in Stockwood.

William Jones Almshouse

William Jones Almshouse

The site of the original William Jones Almshouse is in Monmouth and was built in 1614. The almshouse was rebuilt in 1842 and again in 1961. Bristol Charities took over Trusteeship from the Haberdashers in 2011, developing the current Almshouse which was completed in 2013.
