Anne Nisbet July 2026

Today, we were delighted to welcome Anne Nisbet, High Sheriff of Bristol and Chair of Nisbets, to the Vassall Centre. 🤝

Anne met with Julian Mines, Andy Street and Sophie Jerrold to learn more about the work taking place across Bristol Charities and to hear about the incredible organisations that call the Vassall Centre home, including WECIL, Props, Wesport, and the Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People. 🌟

The visit was an opportunity to showcase the power of collaboration and the remarkable work happening every day across our city. Together, we discussed how charities, businesses, public services and communities each have a vital role to play in creating the right conditions for people to thrive. 🌍

Whether it’s supporting independent living, improving health and wellbeing, creating pathways into employment, championing inclusion, or providing welcoming community spaces, our shared ambition is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential and move beyond the barriers of entrenched poverty. 💙

A particular focus of our conversation was the importance of children and young people, and how investing in opportunity, aspiration and social mobility can help shape brighter futures for generations to come. 🌱

“We were delighted to welcome Anne Nisbet to the Vassall Centre as High Sheriff of Bristol. The Nisbet family’s longstanding commitment to Bristol is a powerful example of social good in practice, investing not only in organisations, but in people and communities. It was a pleasure to share the inspiring work taking place across Bristol Charities and our tenant community, and to discuss how, by working together, we can create the conditions for greater social mobility, opportunity and lasting change across our city.” Julian Mines, CEO, Bristol Charities

The Vassall Centre is a powerful example of what can be achieved when organisations work side by side, sharing expertise, resources and a common purpose. 🤝

A huge thank you to Anne Nisbet for taking the time to visit us and for her interest in the work taking place across Bristol. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to share our ambitions and explore how, together, we can continue building a city where everyone has the chance to flourish. 💜
