There were bats, pumpkins, clay monsters and plenty of happy faces at Vassall Community Hub this half-term, as over 80 children joined us for our free Autumn Family Fun event!

The Hub was buzzing throughout the morning, with children of all ages getting stuck into crafts, games, face painting and biscuit decorating. It was particularly lovely to see siblings of different ages enjoying activities together, with plenty of opportunities for families to get creative and spend time together.
Pumpkins, Bats and Clay Monsters!
According to our feedback sheets, face painting and crafts were among the biggest hits of the morning. Our three face painters were working flat out, creating a steady stream of bats, pumpkins and other colourful designs, while the biscuit decorating table proved just as popular.

One of the activities was nature-inspired clay modelling, where children used natural materials to create their own little clay monsters on sticks. There were some brilliant creations, and lots of conversations happening along the way.
While making her monster, one little girl told a member of staff all about the eco club she's part of, where they go out collecting litter. It was a lovely little moment, showing how a simple craft activity can spark conversations about the things children care about.
What Did the Children Think?
We asked families what they'd enjoyed most, and the feedback was lovely to read.

One child wrote:
"I loved the face paint and how friendly every staff member was. I had so much fun making things."
Others told us:
"I loved the decorations."
"Best day ever!"
And when asked what they'd enjoyed most, one child's answer was simply:
"Playing with my friends."
That last comment really sums up what we hoped the morning would offer - a chance for children to play, have fun and enjoy spending time together.
A Morning For the Whole Family
One of the nicest things about the event was seeing children of different ages enjoying the same space. Younger children had soft play and toys, while older children got involved in the crafts and activities, often alongside their younger siblings.

There was a real buzz throughout the Hub, with children moving between activities, showing off their creations and spending time with friends. Parents and carers were getting stuck in too, helping with crafts, decorating biscuits and enjoying the activities alongside their children.
And while the children had plenty to say about the face painting, crafts and games, we suspect the parents and carers might have voted for the cups of tea!

Thank You for Joining Us!
It was fantastic to welcome so many local families for the morning.
Our free family activities are about giving local families somewhere to spend time together, try something different and meet others from the community, without having to worry about the cost.
A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event such a success.
