How to apply for a grant

Bristol Charities only accepts grant applications from support professionals, who act as a Sponsor on behalf of their clients.

Sponsors may be a social worker, support worker, housing officer or an education or healthcare professional etc. (Please click the link below if you are a support professional and you would like to become a Sponsor).

The Sponsor is responsible for filling in the application form, validating financial details and acting as a point of contact between Bristol Charities, their client, and suppliers.

Once a grant application has been submitted, we will review it and let the Sponsor know the outcome by email, and what further steps to take.

Items we fund

We can help with ONE of the following:

Small electrical equipment - vacuum cleaners, microwaves, kettles, irons and toasters

Basic furniture such as beds, sofas, storage, tables & chairs

There are additional criteria for flooring grants only. Applications may be considered if all the above criteria are met, and one or more of the following apply:

A member of the household has a physical disability or mobility issue, and the current flooring is unsuitable or presents a trip hazard

Applicants who are due to move to a new property

“I’ve just spoken to my client. The cooker is in and she is so grateful. She’s not had a cooker in five years! So really been missing the kinds of things you can cook on the hob particularly… It’s making a huge difference! I think this is one of the most rewarding grant cases I’ve worked on.”
